Valentino Rossi ponders options for his 2024 racing programme
Valentino Rossi will conclude his second season on four wheels later this month.
Attention has turned to what The Doctor will do in 2024 to further extend his motorsport legend.
"I think the program is not yet defined," Rossi said after his most recent race in Barcelona concluded in the gravel.
"But I will definitely continue to compete here in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.
"Whether I will continue to race in the Sprint Cup is still open.”
He added to GT Place: "I'll certainly start in GT3 next year and not in a hypercar.
"I want to drive a GT3 at Le Mans! The question is whether I'll drive the entire FIA WEC.
“But I definitely want to stay in the GT World Challenge Europe, which I really like.
“The rest of the programme is a question of how much time I have."
Rossi, a Team WRT driver in a BMW this season, will stick by his team for 2024 too.
GT World Challenge Europe have confirmed a 16-round championship for next year.
Rossi’s goal remains to race in the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans but his entry remains unconfirmed.
This year, he won for the first time in a car in a support race, the Road To Le Mans.
But Rossi will not race in the Nurburgring 24 Hours in 2024 because he insists the licensing is problematic.
“I think it will be difficult because I don't have enough time to do it,” he said about obtaining a licence.
"Besides, I'd have to drive a small car and I don't feel like small and low-power vehicles."
Rossi is now 44 years old and retains his responsibility as team owner of the Mooney VR46 MotoGP team, which is having a breakthrough season by challenging for the title through Marco Bezzecchi.
A big decision looms for Rossi about whether to keep his team within Ducati’s ranks, or take them to Yamaha for 2025.
